Dr. Mark Plotkin is the author of the bestseller "Tales of a Shaman apprentice; an ethnobotanist searches for new medicines in the Amazon rain forest". He took the course in 1995 when he said: " I have spent 15 years in the Amazon trying to learn to identify plants. With the knowledge I got in this Tropical Dendrology course I feel that I certainly will learn during the next year as much as I learned during the past 15 years".

Veerle: " ...I liked this course because you have the impression that learning dendrology is easy. It is like playing a game; there is no pressure; but then you realize that you have learned a lot. So, it is a good way to learn; very practical. I also liked that we have a great deal of field practice..."
